Naval, Biliran (5 December) â€“ In order to give recognition to the effort exerted by the community-based health volunteers in the 132 barangays as well as the other stakeholders in the fruitful implementation of the Maternal and Child Health Care (MCH) program in the province of Biliran, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will hold a two-day Womenâ€™s Health Team (WHT) Congress on December 18-19, 2007 here.
JICA has launched the MCH program in the province of Biliran in August 2006. It is a five-year program that is envisioned to address the high rate of maternal death in the province.
During the first year of implementation of the MCH program in Biliran province, JICA has provided office equipment, capability building trainings/seminars to health workers, IEC materials and extended other significant support and assistance to the eight municipalities relative to the implementation of the program.
