Naval, Biliran (November 3) – The Biliran Police Provincial Office (BPPO) has a new provincial director in the person of Police Senior Superintendent Alfredo Japson Sabornido.
The turn-over of command of the outgoing PNP Provincial Director of Biliran, Police Senior Superintendent (PSSupt) Wilson Cayanong Caubat to PSSupt. Sabornido was held yesterday, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the BPPO chapel in Brgy. Larrazabal in the municipality of Naval.
The occasion was graced by PSSupt. Vicente Areno Loot, Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 8 who represented PNP Regional Director Arnold R. Revilla, Naval Mayor Susan Parilla, Naval Vice-Mayor Redentor Villordon, Biliran Board Member Martin Lagat who was formerly the Chief of Police of Naval; Biliran town Mayor Leandro Enage, the media to include PIA-Biliran, chiefs of police of the eight municipalities of the province and the officers and men of the BPPO.
During the ceremony, the Reading of Termination and Designation Orders was done by PSSupt. Felix Alberca Diloy, Deputy RPHRDD.
In his message after signing the relinquishment of office, PSSupt. Caubat thanked, first and foremost, the Almighty God for the success of all the activities, programs and projects of the BPPO during his short stint of ten months.
He thanked his family for the moral support. Likewise, he thanked the higher-ups of the PNP for their unwavering support to the BPPO.
“I would like to thank all the chiefs of police of the eight municipalities of Biliran province and all the men and women of the BPPO for their wholehearted support and cooperation,” PSSupt Caubat said.
“Biliran is a colorful province, “maaksyon” when a rally was staged after the May 2010 elections. We faced some 4,000 rallyists, but we were able to control them peacefully,” he added.
“With PSSupt Sabornido as the new provincial director, the BPPO is in good hands,” he said.
“Whatever support you have given me during my stint as PD of the BPPO, increase your support to PSSupt Sabornido,” he told the BPPO officers and men.
“I will treasure our friendship, wherever I am, I’m your brother, you comrade,” he said.
PSSupt Caubat who is an underclass of PSSupt Loot at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) assumed office as Provincial Director of BPPO in January 8 this year.
He is branded by his flock as an officer who is very time conscious in all his activities. He told the BPPO staff to keep themselves healthy and fit and follow a healthy lifestyle to be able to perform their duties well.
He was awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan by PSSupt Loot who personally pinned the medal to his left breast for his very effective and efficient performance as BPPO provincial director.
Likewise, PSSupt Loot officiated the turn-over of office symbol from the outgoing BPPO provincial director to the incoming provincial director.
For his part, PSSupt Loot who was the guest of honor, said, he believes PSSUpt Sabornido can perform to a high level of professionalism as the new provincial director of the BPPO.
He also mentioned the importance of police visibility as an intervention for opportunities to commit a crime.
He recognized the local government officials present during the tun-over ceremony yesterday by saying that without the local government units (LGUs), the PNP will not be able to perform effectively.
He also relayed the message of PNP Regional Director Revilla to remind the members of the police force here to maintain “magandang asal” and “magandang pag ganap sa tungkulin” to be more effective in their jobs as peace officers.
On the other hand, in his remarks as the incoming provincial director of the BPPO, PSSupt Sabornido said “I am happy to make my second comeback to the province. I am happy to work with you again. I would like to thank Biliran Governor Gerardo Espina, Jr. and Congressman Rogelio Espina of the lone district of Biliran for their confidence in me,”.
“ I will work hard to make Biliran peaceful,” he added.
Furthermore, he said, “I will help Biliran continue to grow by campaigning strongly against all forms of illegal activities in the province like illegal drugs, illegal fishing and illegal gambling,”.
I commit to deliver quality service to the people of Biliran,” he said as he urged the officers and men of the BPPO to help him implement the laws so that Biliran will be more known as an orderly, clean and peaceful province. (PIA-Biliran)
