NAVAL, Biliran – Employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) performed the duck, cover and hold during the conduct of the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2017 on March 31, Friday at the DPWH-BDEO compound.
Engr. Orville P. Luban, Engineer II spearheaded the drill earlier at exactly 9:00 AM since most budgetary employees of BDEO will be attending the Anniversary Celebration of the DREEM-C (DPWH Region Eight Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative) at the DPWH Regional Office 8, Baras, Palo, Leyte in the afternoon.
During the drill, several scenarios were performed for a magnitude of 7.2 earthquake with an intense shaking of 45-60 seconds. Such activities performed were activating the evacuation procedure, establishment of Incident Command Post outside the establishment/ building, Head count and search and rescue were performed.
The activity was also actively participated by Engr. David P. Adongay Jr., District Engineer and Engr. Alfredo L. Bollido, OIC-Assistant District Engineer.
The 1st quarter NSED aims to test the efficiency and usefulness of the preparedness response and recovery plans, systems and policies developed in various localities and offices, evaluate the effectiveness of contingency plan, and test the coordination and communication mechanism during response operation.
