Congratulations to Atty. Louise Dianne Ambe Bejer for passing the New York State bar examination.
Louise Dianne Bejer or Dianne to her family was born on September 30, 1981 to Chemical Engineers Flora AMBE Bejer and Leo C. Bejer. She obtained her BA degree from the University of the Philippine Manila where she graduated Cum Laude in year 2003. In the same year she entered the prestigious Ateneo de Manila School of Law where she became a Dean’s Lister. She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in year 2008. In 2009, she passed the New York State Bar.
Dianne has always been a dreamer and an ambitious person. She is a firm believer of the aphorism “If you can dream it, you can do it” and is always thinking of ways to improve herself both professionally and individually.
Early in her law school years, she realized that although she was fluent in English, to be a successful lawyer she needed to develop her argumentative skills. Propelled by this objective, she joined the Ateneo Society of International Law (“ASIL”), an organization who trains law students in the art of argumentation and is internationally known to produce good mooters (“debaters”). Less than a year after joining ASIL she became part of the Philippine team that was sent to join the Hong Kong Red Cross International Law Moot competition in Hong Kong, where the team ranked part of the Top 5 teams. After conquering Asia, Dianne went on to conquer Europe. The following year, a day after she took her last examination in her senior year, she flew to Vienna, Austria to join the Philippine team in competing in the 14th Wilhelm Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. A few days after arriving home from Europe, she received her diploma and obtained her Juris Doctor (Doctor of Law) degree from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law.
After passing the Philippine Bar in 2008 she joined the Law Offices of Nisce Mamuric Guinto Rivera and Alcantara, a medium-sized firm in Makati City, as a Junior Associate. She was assigned high-profiled cases and was tasked to appear before the different courts of Manila, from the Metropolitan Trial Courts to the Court of Tax Appeals.
Indeed, it seems that Dianne has lived a busy life. Asked what she has to say after passing the New York State Bar, she said:
“I am very happy. More than anything, I am happy because my family is happy — my parents, my aunties, my uncles, my cousins and even my nephews and nieces. I guess in some way, I have given my family honor and something to be proud about — and this is saying a lot because my clan the “Ambe” clan is not a rich clan. My mother used to tell us that they did not have money growing up, that they would walk miles everyday in worn out slippers to school, and there weren’t a lot of luxuries available to them. Luxury to them was my grandfather bringing home a few cobs of toasted/roasted corn (inihaw na mais) for his children to share. These stories – stories of hardships of my grandparents, my parents – are the stories that propel me to dream and to work hard to achieve these dreams; to show to the world that we may not be rich but through the grace of God, the love, support and encouragement of each other, we will make a mark in this world.
I am very grateful for my family. I would not trade them for another even if my life depended on it. They have been very supportive. My father is very supportive. Although he does not agree with some of my decisions, he tries to support them. He is not hard on me when I fail and he never blames me for erroneous decisions or my mistakes. My mother is the best individual in the world. She is the ‘greatest’! Best friend ko yan e. She is the most hardworking, generous and sensitive person that I know. You do not even have to ask for things from her kasi ibibigay na nya sayo lahat. This is why, in all the things that I do, I always think of how it will affect my mother first. Kasi I know that whatever emotion I will feel multiplied to the nth degree sa nanay ko. If I am happy, she is ecstatic. If I am sad, she gets even sadder. In fact, when we were in Buffalo, the nights and days immediately before and after the New York State Bar Exam she was the one panicking so hard that I had to ask her to leave the room a few times because she was driving me crazy, and she was also the one who slept the whole 8-hour drive back home kasi she was exhausted. There is a joke between my friend and I na ang nanay ko ang nag-Bar.
I feel blessed. I feel blessed because so far my dreams have been coming true. As for future plans, I am going to try to look for a job here in New York or perhaps do internship. I am not sure yet what path to take but one thing I am definite of is this ‘in whatever I do, whatever is given to me, I plan on giving something back to my mother’s town and my country.’ Pangako ko yan. Kaya if there is anything I can do for anyone, please do not hesitate to come to me and I will do whatever is in my power to help”.

Hi Dianne, a big, big Congratulations to you! How wonderful to know what you have achieved, not just passing your exam but with top marks too! Wow, I could just imagine how very proud your parents are especially your mom of course. By the way, I hope you still remember me! I’m your mom’s friend in FL but I reside in London. I met you where your mom is. I’ve just spoken to her and she is really excited to tell me about you. I don’t blame her at all because I will be like her if I have a daughter like you. You’re a very special one, you know! Anyway, wish you more luck and Congratulations again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
