Charges were dropped against the suspect in the murder of the late Biliran governor Danilo Parilla after he passed away last March 11.
Regional Trial Court branch 18 Judge Gilbert Moises said “criminal and civil liabilities” of Eugenio Corpin were terminated following his death.
Corpin was pronounced dead at the Cebu City Medical Center last March 11 after battling pulmonary problems. He was detained since 2006 at the Cebu City Jail.
Corpin allegedly killed Perilla last September 7, 2006 at the Cebu City pier area just as he got off the vessel MV Cagayan Princess which arrived from Biliran. The killing stemmed from a feud over politics. Correspondent Candeze R. Mongaya
