Not even the intemperate rain and the muddy road could stop the volunteers of the Brgy. Caucab Outreach from giving gifts to the residents of Sitio Cabungasan, Brgy. Caucab, last December 30.
The said outreach program aims to help the residents by giving food, presents and show what Christmas is really about.
The gift-giving was originally intended for Brgy. Palayan but due to the precarious weather, the volunteers settled for Brgy. Caucab, where over fifty families, including children, enjoyed the merriment.
Brgy. Palayan’s residents, however, also received food such as sardines and noodles.
“First time pa jud namu nga natagaan og mga regalo,” said one resident of Brgy.Caucab, who admitted that she got surprised upon seeing the boxes of food.
The volunteers of the outreach were Jennifer Osayan, Roveliza Cayabyab, Michael Caneja, Rachel Caneja, Rhea Ponferada, Angelie Mendaje, Bobby Saba, Kenskie, and Yhongs.
Moreover, the sponsors who made the gift-giving possible were Florita Vaporoso of Europe, Vergie Adobo of UK, Aida Mecaral-Sese of New Jersey, Orisan and Lourdes Matsumoto, Atty. Edgar Igano, Aguhob Family of Cabunga-an, Dir. Romulo Bernardes, Teresita Eamiguel Stroizer, JDR Mission, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Caneja.
The outreach program lasted over the night where the volunteers, including three of the staffs of the Biliran Island.com, shared not just presents, but also an immeasurable bliss to the families who were there to witness the real life Santa Claus.
Indeed, there is really no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving.
