GSIS officials brief Biliran information officers

NAVAL, Biliran – Officials from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in region 8 and from the Central Office in Manila met today (March 24) with the officers and members of the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO), Biliran Chapter during the GSIS forum held at Marvin’s Place in Brgy. Atipolo in the municipality of Naval, the capital town of Biliran province.

Ma. Vilma Fuentes, Manager of GSIS 8 together with Robert Agustin, Senior Vice President of the Membership Group and Ella Valencerina, Vice President for Public Relations and Communications Office of GSIS Manila were the resource speakers during the forum with the Biliran communicators group.

Before the start of the forum, Manager Fuentes introduced the resource speakers to the information officers.

The Biliran information officers were likewise introduced to the guests by Dionisio Oliva, President of AGIO, Biliran chapter.

In his briefing about new pronouncements, and policies of the GSIS, SVP Agustin expressed his appreciation for the attendance of the information officers to the forum saying that he will appreciate it very much that whatever they will discuss and agree with regards to GSIS benefits, as information officers, they can relay the information to the respective agencies they represent after the forum.

SVP Agustin also expressed confidence that with GSIS under the new leadership of Chairman Daniel Lacson and President and General Manager (PGM) Robert Vargas, services to its members ad pensioners will be more effective and efficient.

“We want to attain the new vision and mission of GSIS to regain its good image”, he said.

He likewise mentioned in his briefing the various innovations and new policies of GSIS under the new administration.

For her part, VP Valencerina, in her briefing, informed the information officers of the new programs and enhanced services that GSIS is offering to its members and pensioners.

She said that in terms of housing loans, GSIS offers the lowest interest of 8% per annum payable in 30 years.

She also mentioned about the GSIS scholarship program which are electronically raffled and can be assigned to somebody not necessarily related to the member but to anybody of the member’s choice. These, and many more enhanced services of GSIS were discussed thoroughly by VP Valenciano.

On the other hand, Manager Fuentes of GSIS region 8 urged GSIS members and pensioners in the area to text, e-mail or visit her office in Tacloban should they need answers to their queries regarding GSIS services and benefits. (PIA-Biliran)
