DepEd-biliran sends participants to the public hearing on the proposed K to 12 basic education

NAVAL, Biliran – The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Biliran will be sending identified participants to the public hearing on the proposed K to 12 Basic Education Program tomorrow.

The public hearing will be held at the Leyte Normal University gymnasium in Tacloban City from 9:00 o’clock in the morning up to 12:00 noon to be conducted by the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Culture.

According to Dr. Pedro Escobarte, Jr. Schools Division Superintendent of Biliran, during the public hearing, the committee will present and discuss the important features of the proposed K to 12 Basic Education Program of the DepEd.

Likewise, some legislative measures that are related to the K to 12 Basic Education Program will be presented during the public hearing.
One of the legislative measures up for presentation is House Resolution No. 12, on the “Propriety of Adopting Twelve-Year Education Cycle in Elementary and High School (Basic Education) authored by Representative Marcelino R. Teodoro.

Another one is, House Bill No. 2182 on “Prescribing a Twelve-Year Basic Education Curriculum for All Public and Private School Children which is authored by Representative Eulogio R. Magsaysay.

Also part of the House Bills to be presented during the public hearing is House Bill No. 4199 and 4219 which pertains to “Enhancing the Curriculum and Increasing the Number of Years for Basic Education which is authored by Representative Salvador Escudero III and others and Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. and others.

The participants to the public hearing are expected to share their views and recommendations that will contribute to the successful implementation of the proposed K to 12 Basic Education Program of DepEd. (opt/FEJ/PIA 8 Biliran)
