Four days celebration of the 17th TESDA anniversary formally opens at CNSAT-TESDA

NAVAL, Biliran, August 23 (PIA) – The four-day celebration of the 17th Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was formally opened today, Monday, August 22 in simple ceremonies held at the Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT)-TESDA at Bgry. Libertad, Cabucgyan, Biliran.
The occasion was attended by heads of national agencies based in Naval, Biliran province who are partners in program implementation of the CNSAT-TESDA like the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Biliran, Department of Education (DepEd), Division of Biliran and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Biliran Provincial Information Center.
Also present during the opening ceremonies were Biliran Mayor Leandro Enage and the representatives of some mayors in the province; the officials, faculty, personnel, students of CNSAT and other guests.
In his opening message, Lino Severino, School Administrator of CNSAT-TESDA thanked the LGU officials, the partner agencies and those present during the program for their support to the activities and programs of CNSAT-TESDA.
He traced the humble beginnings of the school since it’s opening in the early 70’s until its separation from the DepEd in April 25, 1994 until what it is at present.
Over the years, he said, CNSAT-TESDA has been providing technical skills training to the Biliranons to develop their skills that would improve their present livelihood status to a better life.
He said, CNSAT-TESDA will continue to deliver quality competency-based technical vocational education and training for the social well-being and economic upliftment of its clients and graduates, as stated in the school’s mission.
For her part, Mayor Gemma Adobo of Cabucgayan, Biliran whose message was read by Russel Pascual of the mayor’s office, thanked CNSAT-TESDA for contributing a bright economic development to her municipality by providing quality skills training to the clients in the area as they are now gainfully employed and some have business of their own.
She also cited the creation of the CNSAT-TESDA website as she said, this will help a lot of clients only from the municipality of Cabucgayan but in the entire province as well and other parts of the country to access the website and know what’s going on in said school especially on their activities, school programs and school offerings.
On the other hand, Loreta Banario, Provincial Director of TESDA-Biliran expressed her appreciation for the presence of the mayors, barangay captains and partner agencies as she thanked them for their support to CNSAT-TESDA.
Director Banario explained to the program audience that TESDA wants to train what the individual client wants. She said that for TESDA to be relevant, it must be able to train and assist them in looking for employment and jobs in coordination with the LGUs, DOLE and partner institutions.
She thanked in particular, the PIA for the information support extended to their agency by providing the widest dissemination to the media of their programs, projects and scholarships to the public and target clients.
The opening program was followed by the formal launching of the CNSAT-TESDA website http://www.tesdacnsat.org/
The skills Olympics competition followed after the launching ceremony where the students compete in four skills areas such as Food and Beverage Service, Commercial Cooking, Electrical Installation and Maintenance and Computer Hardware Services.
The four-day celebration of the 17th TESDA anniversary this year which started on August 22 until August 25, 2011 carries the theme: TESDA, Kaagapay Patungo sa Matuwid na Pag-unlad”. (FEJ/PIA 8 Biliran)
