NSU marks 2nd charter day anniversary

NAVAL, Biliran – The Naval State University (NSU) in the municipality of Naval, province of Biliran turns two years old as it marks its 2nd Charter Day Anniversary on October 14, 2011.

In an interview with Dr. John Romagos, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and information officer-designate of the university, he said, various activities are lined-up by the NSU administration headed by Dr. Edita Genson, university president, to highlight the occasion and make the four-day celebration memorable to the students, faculty, officials and everyone one in the university and the Biliranons in general.

For his part, Mr. Edison Ralar, office secretary of the NSU External Affairs Office informed that part of the activities to celebrate the occasion is the holding of the two-day NSU 3rd Jobs Fair on October 12-13, 2011.

The jobs fair, he said, will focus on Maritime Recruitment Agencies.

Furthermore, he informed that land jobs of sorts are also available to applicants who desire to get employment.

He said, there are six land-based agencies in the country who will be joining in the jobs fair and these are the NON-STOP Overseas Employment, Corporation; Pacific Mediterranean International Manpower Agency, Incorporated; Ascend International Services Incorporated; GEM 22 Manpower Agency; VERDI International Services; and ZAREIKO Production Manpower, Incorporated.

Only one maritime recruitment agency signified their participation in the jobs fair – the C. F. Sharp CREW Management, Incorporated.

Also joining the jobs fair are some local recruitment agencies like the APAC, Coca-Cola and Prince Enterprises, Incorporated.

Mr. Ralar said, the holding of the 3rd NSU Jobs Fair is in partnership with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) region 8, DOLE-Biliran, Technical Skills and Development Authority (TESDA)-Biliran, Biliran Provincial Empoyment Services Office (PESO) managers and the local government units (LGUs) of the eight municipalities of Biliran province.

On the other hand , Dr. Nemesio Lora, Income Generating Project (IGP) Director of NSU informed PIA-Biliran that, Agri-Trade Fair Exhibit, Sports Festival and Acrobatic Show wil also highlight the celebration of the 2nd Charter Day celebration of NSU.

The two-day trade fair exhibits will be formally opened on Wednesday, October 12.

NSU which was then Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) became a university under Republic Act 9718 on October 14, 2009. (FJ/PIA 8 Biliran)
