BILIRAN PROVINCIAL HOSPITAL HIRES NEW CHIEF

After a long wait, the Biliran Provincial Hospital finally got itself a Chief of Hospital in the person of Dr. Edgar Veloso, a surgeon and a graduate of Masters in Hospital Administration from the Ateneo University. He started being the official Chief of Hospital last January 16, 2008. He was personally recruited by Governor Roger Espina, when they met in California during the latest US trip of the Governor to attend a Quality Health Management Training at Harvard. They were batchmates during their medical school days.
Dr. Veloso is the son of the late Congressman of the 3rd district of Leyte, Hon. Alberto Veloso and married to Elenita Mojica also a physician specializing in Obstetrics/Gynecology and connected with the Obstetrics Dept of the East Avenue Medical Center. They have two kids Vittorio Alberto, 16 and Alexa Gabriel, 10.
The few people who know that Dr. Veloso started his new post as the Provincial Hospital Chief cannot help to speculate about probable political plans here in Biliran as like his politician father he himself had a stint in politics as Vice Governor of the Province of Leyte in 1995-1998 and planned to run as Congressman in the third district of Leyte in the 2007 elections.
Being asked this, his reply was a big guffaw as this scenario seems to be farfetched in his mind now. What he envisions is to be of help in placing the Biliran Provincial Hospital in the right track of development it being the only hospital here in the Province. He was informed that the hospital is applying for a third-level,100 bed capacity hospital and to do this and the various requirements, a well-qualified physician is needed for the job and its various demands to keep it running at an even keel. While there were several physicians being considered, all of them had several qualifications lacking. But more than the academic and training requirements to qualify for the post the most important quality that Dr. Veloso possesses is his people skills or his ability to manage people with so very diverse personalities and background.
Before he was elected as Vice Governor of Leyte, he worked as a resident physician at the East Avenue Medical Center then as Congress Physician of the House of Representatives from 1999-2006.
He realizes the huge challenge that the post as Chief of Hospital demands of him. He takes this one day at a time and hopes that all his initiatives and plans will be supported by the Governor, with the cooperation of both health workers and the support staff at the hospital, he is confident that the challenges will eventually be met.

Da, mingaw na lagi. Hasta pod kono sa radyo, ningkalit lang ug kamingaw si Pugak sa iyang pag fantasya ug si Darna sa iyang pag pinutakputak.
Kining pakulo ni Dok Rabbit karon, nga siya kono ang chief of hospital unya si Dr. Veloso diay ang gibutang, morag gihimo tang gago aning tanan. Pero apil si Jack ug ang Bulletin sa pag gagoha. Dimalas lang ang uban kay walay P20,000 kada bulan gikan sa Kapitolyo pareho kang Jack.

Nagpaka uwaw ka lang sa mga disente ug hipno nga mga taga Tabok.
Ayaw pag gamit anang pulong nga lawgaw, kay mobalik ra gihapon na sa imo. Kay ang mga Bandido Estranghero ang pinaka lawgaw dinhi sa Naval sulod sa 12 anyos na karon.

Never again we’ll let these dynasty to plunder the Biliran government. The Veloso’s, from Alberto to Edgar, did nothing to Biliran. They only visit the island to lure the people during campaign, after which they put the islant to oblivion.

Una, si Governor Espina mao ang ninglingkod as Hospital Chief tungod kay ang dati nga Hospital chief in the person of Dr. Veneracion, is not capable in his field of position. When one of the commentors asked if “Asa na si Dr. Veneracion”, we’ll he is still in the hospital as the Provincial Health Officer. And somebody also mentioned nga ang Provincial Health Officer mao ra sab jud ang molingkod as Provincila Hospital Chief, FYI…Biliran Provincial Hospital nata karon, and no longer IPHO or Integrated Provincial Health Office nga PHO lang gihapon ang molingkod. Now back to the discussion about the Hospital Chief thing, Dr. Veloso is a very active Chief of Hospital and very knowledgeable in terms of his field of expetise as a doctor and as the Chief. If only..YOU people who are criticizing Dr. Veloso, one thing I could tell you.. YOU have not known Dr. Veloso personally. My challenge to all of you… ila ilaha daw ninyo si Doctor Veloso ug uban ubani para makasabot mo ug unsa sya kamaayo una mo mo comment ug negative about him. You people can ask the hospital staff ug unsa ang tinuod batasan ug pagdala ni Dr. Veloso sa ilang mga tawo dinaha sa hospital… Please challenge yourself to know him…afterwards you can decide kung unsa gud siya nga tawo… If he is genuine in his vision to help in upgrading the hospital or may lain pa ba siyang plano. Stop those nonsense gossips..

Good morning po, my mother call me last saturday that my father have an operation schedule in your hospital on thursday. sabi po ng mother ko eh puputulin daw na ang paa ng father ko, gusto ko lang po malaman kung located nga po itong hospital sa Naval or Biliran?
Kasi po, i visited them last January lang po & the last check up po eh maayos na raw po. Then biglang bigla na lang ngayon eh kailangan daw pong putulin na.
Malayo po kasi ako at mahirap maka-contact sa kanila,madalas po wala silang load.Hihingi lang po ng kaonting tulong sa inyo lalo na po kay Governor,alam ko po kilala po ninyo ang mother ko si Pureza Sulla ng Cabucgayan, madalas po kayong ikuwento sa akin.
Maari po bang malaman ko ang katotohanan kung talagang puputulin na ang paa ng father ko?(si Prescilo Sulla) Nagaalala lang po ako at napakalayo ko po.Madalas po umiiyak ako.

I know Dr Veloso from his early years as a Resident doctor in one of the Provincial Hospital in Bulacan, I can say to all Biliraneos that he’s sincere to help people of all ages and status in life.
I’ve seen him working through out those early years and one of his dreams is to comeback to his hometown to serve his people /community. I think you need to give him a chance to show what he can do for your hospital , as his aim and goal is for the best of you all.. Good luck to all Biliraneos… Cheers!

Duna may hospital didto sa Tabango, Leyte, ang silingan nga lungsod sa Villaba nga hometown sa chief sa BPH. Mas duol pa seguro sa iyang kasingkasing ang pagserbisyo didto. Apan morag layo na sa ilang pamilya ang kadaugan sa politika didto. Unya pod morag duna pay mahagdaw dinhi sa Biliran, kung human na and torno dinhi sa mga Bandido.
