3-day celebration of Biliran’s 20th year as province now on

NAVAL, Biliran, (PIA) — The three-day activities highlighting the 20th Provincehood Anniversary Celebration kicks off today with a motorcade from the provincial capitol grounds going around the main thoroughfares of Naval poblacion.

This will be followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Provincial Agri-Trade Fair.To lead in the ribbon-cutting ceremony are Governor Gerardo Espina Jr. and Congressman Roger Espina also to be assisted by the mayors of Biliran province and other guests.

The provincial agri-trade fair will showcase the best agricultural produce of the Biliran farmers and the best cottage industry products of the local producers in the province.

Part of the activities on the first day of the three-day activities of the celebration is the Jobs Fair and One-Stop-Shop to be held at the Govenor’s Hall of the capitol building.

Five International Placement Agencies which are accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) will be joining the Jobs Fair and these include the Gems 22 Manpower; MMML Recruitment Services, Incorporated; Non-Stop Overseas Employment Corporation; Ozem International Placement Services, Incorporated and Pacific Mediterranean International Manpower Agency, Incorporated.

Participating national government agencies in the One-Stop-Shop are the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Passport Document Processing, National Statistics Office (NSO) Authentication of Civil Registry Documents, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Services.

Today, Wednesday, March 9, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Biliran will also hold a day-long Provincial Consumers Congress 2012 at the Nipa Hut Complex, capitol grounds in Brgy. Calumpang, Naval. Some 60 participants will be participating in the consumers congress.

At 2:00 p.m., a Dance and Music Artistic Workshop sponsored by the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Resident Ethnic Dance and Music Ensemble will be held at the main stage area at the capitol grounds.

The day’s activities will be capped with a Performance Night dubbed “Kahiusaan, Kasinabtanay, Kontra-GaPI also sponsored by the UP-Diliman Resident Ethnic Dance and Music Ensemble at 7:00 p.m. at the Naval State University (NSU) gymnasium. (PIA 8, Biliran)
