NAVAL, Biliran — “Love Ko Ang Naval” will be the official tourism slogan of Naval, the capital town of Biliran province.
This was revealed by Marilou Bernardes-Lucente, president, Naval Tourism Council who is also the chairperson on the committee on tourism of the Sangguniang Bayan of Naval.
Lucente said that the town’s tourism slogan will be officially launched on June 24 at Banderahan Beach located in Barangay Caray-Caray this town.
She said that the launching of Naval tourism slogan will be held in Banderahan Beach considering the tourism and historical significance of the place.
It was learned that Banderahan was the site where a flag pole was erected and used to signal for help by the constabulary detachment camped at the old watchtower in Sitio Ilawod that served also as the burial site of Japanese during World War II as told by Professor Rolando Borrinaga, a nationally acknowledge historian who is a native of Naval. Now, the place was also developed as an eco-tourism site by Naval Mayor Susan V. Parilla.
The lady legislator revealed that behind the town’s tourism slogan campaign are messages of obedience of the constituents on traffic rules and regulations, observance on proper waste segregation and disposal, extending courtesy of the constituents to visitors, and many other traits and practices that the local people must show as a way of truly loving the town.
She said that the constituents have big roles to play to achieve a favorable result and for possible boom of the tourism industry in Naval,
Meanwhile, the Naval Tourism Council has already identified the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the tourism industry in Naval during the two-day strategic planning workshop attended by the officers of the council held on May 18-19 at Redstone Beach Resort located in Pulangbato, Almeria, Biliran.
Other important activities considered by the council include the surprise visit to establishments like slaughterhouse, hotels, inns, resorts, food establishments and market area; conduct of trainings for tour guides, dispatchers, and transportation operators; the color coding for pedicabs locally known as “sikad-sikad”; survey visit to Puting Cross on June 17 and Caray-Caray eco-tour dry run; and launching of the town’s tourism slogan campaign on June 24.
