Naval-LGU bags DOH red orchid award anew

NAVAL, Biliran, May 30 (PIA) — It’s another great honor for the local government unit (LGU) of Naval as it won for the second time the Department of Health (DOH) Red Orchid Award for 2012.
This was revealed by Dr. Gabby Velasquez, a medical doctor by profession and the Chairman of the Committee on Health of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Naval town in a text message on Tuesday, May 29, to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Biliran.
He said, the achievement of LGU-Naval in the successful implementation of the anti-smoking campaign in said municipality was made possible through the full support and cooperation of all sectors in the area.
Dr. Velasquez, who is the proponent of the municipal ordinance on anti-smoking campaign in Naval town, has been actively spearheading the task force on anti-smoking in conducting rounds in the poblacion and in the barangays of the town to remove advertisements of cigarettes and other tobacco products in stores selling cigarettes.
He said, since the ordinance on the anti-smoking campaign was approved and was implemented, there was a noted decrease in the count of people in Naval who smoke.
He added that the regular information campaign of the Anti-Smoking Task Force through the Kapihan sa PIA forum which was aired live through the local radio station and the barangay pulong-pulongs conducted have contributed to the decline of smokers in Naval town.
It was learned that the municipality of Naval won the DOH Red Orchid Award in the year 2011 with a cash award of P100,000 and a certificate of appreciation.
This year, Naval town will receive another P100,000 cash award for winning the DOH Red Orchid Award for 2012.
Doc Gabby, as he is fondly called by his friends and colleagues at the SB-Naval, said that together with the SB members of Naval, LGU-officials led by Mayor Susan Parilla, the Anti-Smoking Task Force and the concerned agencies in this program, he will step up the campaign on anti-smoking to be able to get the DOH Red Orchid Hall of Fame Award where the cash award is P500,000. Ask ko lang poh…kani ba nga award makatabang sa pagpa himo nga 1st class municipal ang naval? or maski 2nd class? Kay mura sa una 2nd class naman cguro to unya karon ning balik na sd pagka 4th class..

maayo kay nakadawat mo orkid award tungod sa inyong kampanya nga no smoking. Diin ba diay agi ang team nga nag survey nga walaa man makakita nianang usa ka binuhat nga sigi ug yupyop ug sigarilyo sa tibook adlaw. Bisita daw mo diha duol sa clini ni dr. maanuel medalla, ug pal ticketig office, duol ra pod ni siya sa gate sa naval central school diin naa ang atong mga pupil nga mag-agi-agi kada adla. nahadlok mo pagsitar kay paryente o oyoan tingali ni siya ni board member ug sb member? Haler!!!! Giunsa man ni Gabby Boy pag measure nga mikunhod daw ang manigarilyo sa Naval? Naa ba siya activities sa pagsukod aron makita ang indicators nga tinuod na mimenos ang manigarilyo sa Naval? Hehehe o kaha ang kining PIA lang ang naghimo niini nga atik sa atoa! Dili kaha DRAMA sa papel gihapon ni Gabby ang tanan uban sa atong Mayor ug Bise Mayor?

Kasagaran nga manigarilyo dinhi sa ato dili mga taga naval. Diha sa terminal, naay nagbaligya ug sigarilyo, kanang mga tindahan daplin sa dagat. Lisod man pod ug kita nga ordinaryong citizen ang mositar kay tingali ug mosukol o dumtan hinoon ta. Maayo unta to ug dunay police nga mag sibilyan ug mao ang manakop nianang mga parapanigarilyo. Dito pod kuno sa kapitolyo, dunay tarpolin nga nag -ingon nga Smoke free zone”, pero dili layo sa tarpoline, naay mga gwardiya nga sigi ug hupyop sa ug yosi. Gani, may nakakita nga ang mayor (kaluha) pa gani sa nagsigarilyo atubangan sa building sa kapitolyo.

para nako dili kinahanglan ang award award, kana jud unta tinuod nga miresulta ang ordinansa sa lungsod nga bation ug makita sa taga Naval dili kay sila taga Manila mo hatag award!
unya pakodak kodak na pod si Gabby Boy, unya sa eleksyon sunod tuig bandera ang orchid orchid, saba diha uy storyahi!
pero ang medisina sa private clinic gikan munsipyo ok lang….. segi kay hatagan pod nato unya award nga bulak sa utot-utot award!
