NAVAL, Biliran — “No damage to infrastructures like roads and bridges were observed in the circumferential road and bridges in the province of Biliran and in the eight municipalities of Biliran province after the province was hit by an earthquake on Wednesday, July 4 at around 7:09 in the evening”, said Bonifacio Santana of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in an interview.
He said that on Thursday, July 5, a day after Biliran province was hit by a 4.9 magnitude earthquake with epicenter at 03 km south, 19 degrees west of the municipality of Naval, the DPWH-BDEO organized a team to conduct an inspection of the circumferential road and bridges of Biliran province to check of possible damages after the calamity.
He said, the DPWH went around the province to assess the infrastructures.
“Based on the observations and findings, no damages were observed and found,” Santana said.
Furthermore, he said, as of today, DPWH-BDEO had already sent a report to the DPWH regional office no. 8 in Candahug, Palo, Leyte to update the regional officials on the situation in Biliran province after the earthquake hit the area. (PIA 8, Biliran)
