LTO to hold public hearing on plate standardization

July 11th, 2012

By Ma. Lailani P. Tupaz

NAVAL, Biliran — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Office 8 will hold a public hearing on the standardization of motor vehicle (MV) plates on Tuesday, July 17, at the Oriental Hotel, Candahug, Palo, Leyte.

LTO Regional Director Camilo Guarin urged invited individuals to attend the public hearing, as they will be using the guidelines and procedures for the standardization of motor vehicle plates on more effective law enforcement, added income for the government, efficient work and credibility.

Motor vehicle plates were manufactured since 1984 pursuant to Batas Pambansa Blg. 43. As years go by, some motor vehicles operating on the streets are using plates of different types and designs, thus making it difficult for authorities to identify genuine from counterfeit plates.

Non-replacement of lost plates with LTO results to loss of revenue for the government, and non-standardized motor vehicle plates creates an unreliable vehicle database system. It is in view of these issues that effective January 2013, the implementation of motor vehicle plates standardization program mandates the replacement of all vehicle license plates as well as the replacement of all plates every five years thereafter.

Failure to replace the plate of motor vehicle is tantamount to operating or driving a motor vehicle that is unregistered or improperly registered, which entails a penalty of P2,000 to P4,000 as provided for by Department Order No. 2008-39 dated August 26, 2008.

For more information regarding motor vehicle plates standardization, those concerned are asked to confirm their attendance with Grace Carsido, Officer-in-Charge of LTO Naval District Office at telephone number 053-500-8145 on or before July 13. (PIA Biliran)

COMELEC OFFICIAL RESULTS: Biliran May 2013 Local Elections

This is one political filipino trait when it comes to election that MUST change! Nobody concedes defeat, ug pilde gilingbugan. Labi na ni si Glenn, anogon jud kay I thought when he first won na he would be an example of how a winner should portent to be, instead nagsigue lang ug pang yawyaw nga walay hinundan against the Espina’s! So the people wised up and threw him under the bus! Let this be a lesson to upcoming politicians na ug magdaug mo do the job that the people elected you to do, and stop going after the person that you defeated!
