NAVAL, Biliran – In it’s effort towards the elimination of rabies in the province of Biliran and the entire Visayas, the members of the Biliran Provincial Rabies Control Committee (PRCC) will attend a two-day Program Implementation Review of Rabies Elimination Project for Visayas.

This was revealed by Dr. Susette Apura, Provincial Veterinarian of Biliran in a letter invitation sent to PIA.

She said the activity is spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH) region 8 in coordination with the Department of Agriculture 8 and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The two-day activity will be held in Ormoc City on August 1 and 2 this year at a venue to be announced later.

She added that part of the discussions of the two-day affair is the review of programs, projects and activities relative to the elimination of rabies in the provinces in the Visayas area to include Biliran.

The activity will also enable the two sponsoring agencies to evaluate the successful implementation of the programs and projects relative to rabies elimination in the provinces in the Visayas area.

It was learned that in the province of Biliran there was a noted decrease of rabies cases in the last few years.

Earlier, Lorna Jadulco, point person of the Biliran Provincial Animal Bite Center located at the Biliran Provincial Hospital in Naval, Biliran said that last year, there was no reported rabies case in the province.

The Biliran Provincial Health Office through the PRCC chaired by Dr. Alfonso Veneracion, Provincial Health Officer, is strongly campaigning to eliminate rabies in the area.

Through the municipal health office (MHO) and the municipal agriculturist office (MAO) of the eight municipalities of Biliran province, vaccination of dogs is offered for free.

Along this line, dog owners are advised to submit their dogs for free vaccination at the nearest center to prevent the spread of rabies. (PIA Biliran)

COMELEC OFFICIAL RESULTS: Biliran May 2013 Local Elections

COMELEC OFFICIAL RESULTS: Biliran May 2013 Local Elections

This is one political filipino trait when it comes to election that MUST change! Nobody concedes defeat, ug pilde gilingbugan. Labi na ni si Glenn, anogon jud kay I thought when he first won na he would be an example of how a winner should portent to be, instead nagsigue lang ug pang yawyaw nga walay hinundan against the Espina’s! So the people wised up and threw him under the bus! Let this be a lesson to upcoming politicians na ug magdaug mo do the job that the people elected you to do, and stop going after the person that you defeated!
