TACLOBAN CITY- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) gave livelihood assistance for tools, equipment and raw materials to suman makers in Naval, Biliran.
This program covers 60 beneficiaries of which 24 are male and 36 are female.
Marlo Silbe, labor and employment officer, said “the community based is an organization or cooperative that has a budget proposal to be submitted to DOLE. This would be evaluated if this deserves the help of DOLE.”
Silbe added that the community based group should have a co-partner organization which is accredited by DOLE. Just like the local gGovernment unit (LGU) which is accredited by DOLE to be the one to oversee the implementation of the program.
“This is a livelihood assistance for tools, equipment and raw materials for Naval suman makers. DOLE only provided tools and equipment. The funding is 80% and 20%, 80% from DOLE and 20% from LGU Naval which is their accredited co-partner”, he said.
He emphasized that the project cost of the Naval suman makers is P776, 475.00, 80% of the DOLE counterpart is P621, 180.00 and 20% of its co-partner which is the LGU Naval costs P155, 295.00″.
“Lastly, when it comes to marketing it is their strategy already but DOLE can come in if they will ask for assistance. For example in job fairs, we can invite them to sell their products there. This is a way to help them”, Sible disclosed. (AIRRA MAE A. DACUT LNU ABCom Intern)
