Naval Day Care Centers provides supplemental feeding

NAVAL, Biliran, August 15 (PIA) – All the 26 day care centers in every barangay of Naval are currently on its second tranche of supplemental feeding program with funding from the national office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Norma Bacordo, Naval Municipal Social Worker, said that the feeding program is good for 120 days divided into three tranches at 40 days per tranche.
DSWD set the menu to be followed for daily serving to preschoolers at the day care centers, Bacordo added.
Eva Calvez, day care worker at Brgy. P. I. Garcia, revealed that each child of her 65 pupils in two sessions is provided a budget of P10.00 per meal.
Parents of the enrolled preschoolers take turn in preparing the food based on the recommended menu for the day.
Meanwhile, all day care centers of Naval are preparing for accreditation next month by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) central office.
DSWD will look into the operation of all day care centers of Naval to include their day care workers.
Once the day care center falls short of the standards set by DSWD central office, its operation will be stopped and the center will be closed, according to Bacordo. # (PIA 8 Biliran)
